Boulmer was the Gin smuggling capital of England around 200 years ago. In fact, The Fishing Boat Inn was originally a "smuggler's haunt" which is another way of saying "hideout".
Pirates used to use the pub as a place to meet up and plan their next jobs, who they were going to steal from next and any number of unethical things that pirates did in those days.
Mike and Margaret have been in the pub restaurant business for just under 20 years. They have been the proud owners of two pubs, both in Northumberland and also Yorkshire, before occupying The Fishing Boat Inn.
They are in actual fact, tenants to the Duke of Northumberland, who owns the property.
They have a passion for food and beautiful scenery, which led them to the beautiful location in the first place.
